Job Description

At Chicago Board Options Exchange, we're building a team of talented professionals to help us deliver cutting-edge trading, clearing, and investment solutions to market participants around the world.

About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Software Engineer, Test to join our US Clearing Systems group. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll work closely with product teams to ensure new features and functionality work as expected.

Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and extend test software applications to validate business requirements. You'll review, document, and understand system specifications, work with product and engineering teams to create effective test plans, and develop and execute both manual and automated test cases.

You'll also be responsible for analyzing results, providing feedback to necessary parties, creating documentation around best testing practices, reporting bugs, and working with engineering groups to come to a resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and extend test software applications to validate business requirements
  • Review, document, and understand system specifications
  • Work with product and engineering teams to create effective test plans
  • Develop and execute both manual and automated test cases
  • Analyze results and provide feedback to necessary parties
  • Create documentation around best testing practices
  • Report bugs and work with engineering groups to come to a resolution
Requirements
  • Minimum 2+ years of work experience in the QA/development field
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Professional experience working in the QA/development field
  • Experience in developing software in various programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, HTML
  • Relevant experience with various web technologies, such as content management systems, application servers, e-commerce platforms, etc.
  • Experience with Selenium or Cypress for front-end testing
  • Hands-on experience in engineering and/or testing
  • Experience with automated test frameworks such as Cucumber
  • End-to-end testing of applications
  • Working knowledge of testing methodologies
  • Communication with users and engineers understanding bugs
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Financial markets experience
  • Familiarity with FIX, SQL, Git, and Linux
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment
