Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and sterilizers.
  • Inspect and clean surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are free from debris and contamination.
  • Prepare and assemble surgical instrument trays and sets.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of sterilization and processing activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless processing and delivery of instruments and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months of experience as a central service technician in a healthcare facility or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) credential preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and utilize Instrument Tracking System (ABACUS).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift up to 30 pounds.
Working Conditions

This position is covered by the Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement. The working environment is exposed to some unpleasant working conditions, including exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious materials.
