Job Title: Senior Aircraft Paint Shop Worker

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Aircraft Paint Shop Worker to join our team at Piper Aircraft. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for assisting the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts and subassemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts and subassemblies.
  • Meet or exceed planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.
  • Perform or assist in the following tasks: sanding, preparing, and performing touch-up painting of complex designs, and metallic or pearl-based paints over large areas.
  • Assist engineering and marketing disciplines in developing the implementation of new processes and materials.
  • Work cross-functionally with other business disciplines to identify failure root causes and prevention methods.
  • Work with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness for design changes.
  • Work as a manufacturing representative during FAA inspection and auditing of manufacturing processes.
  • Serve as a lead with the ability to guide and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train, and mentor teammates within a career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
  • Adhere, maintain, assist, and train teammates within a career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD, and Tool Control, 5S, and other assigned programs.
  • Perform audits of areas within the department as required to maintain compliance with all FAA and Piper operational requirements. Initiate related operational process or procedural corrective action, or request additional assistance from leadership or other support teams where necessary.
  • Perform duties of lower-graded positions within a career path and other duties as assigned by supervision.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of high school diploma.
  • Related Aircraft Paint Worker Experience Requirements:
    • Aircraft Paint Shop Worker I: ≥ 1-2 years of experience
    • Aircraft Paint Shop Worker II: ≥ 2-5 years of experience
    • Senior Aircraft Paint Shop Worker: ≥ 5 years of experience
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and PPE, including proper fit and use of respirators as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and other manufacturing instructions.
Physical Demands:
  • Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job-specific equipment.
  • Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance, and reach above, out, and below.

Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors.
  • May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members, and regulatory agency representatives.
