Bar Manager

Pullman Standard is an upscale cocktail lounge located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The Bar/General Manager will oversee daily operations, manage inventory and resources, ensure quality and safety controls are followed, and increase profitability. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of supervisory experience in an upscale bar/cocktail lounge setting and a valid TABC license or permit.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations and manage the business aspects of the bar.
- Hire and train staff to provide excellent service to guests.
- Develop creative food and drink offerings that support the upscale cocktail lounge atmosphere.
- Take the lead on Tennessee Liquor Law awareness and ensure Pullman Standard is in compliance at all times.
- Supervise and train staff to be knowledgeable, personable, and hospitable.
- Remain in compliance with safety measures and consistently achieve a high health code rating.
- Assume responsibility for resolving problems during the course of business.
- Advertise current daily, weekly, or monthly promotions.
- Ensure the bar is well-stocked and clean.
- Track guest behavior and sales.
- Regularly monitor revenue through appropriate reports.
- Maintain/oversee budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Oversee planning for special events.
- Initiate and maintain vendor relationships.
- Conduct inventory and select and purchase liquor and other supplies.
- Issue invoices, monitor receivables, and be responsible for collections.
- Strive for excellence in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.
The above-listed duties are not all inclusive. This position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualification RequirementsExperience Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience in an upscale bar/cocktail lounge setting.
- Valid TABC license or permit.
- Associates degree or higher in hotel or restaurant management preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
- Knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent service orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership ability.
- Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Ability to read and interpret financial data and documents.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and reach for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally.
- Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
- Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
- Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
- Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
