Job Description

Pullman Standard is an upscale cocktail lounge located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The Bar/General Manager will oversee daily operations, manage inventory and resources, ensure quality and safety controls are followed, and increase profitability. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of supervisory experience in an upscale bar/cocktail lounge setting and a valid TABC license or permit.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee daily operations and manage the business aspects of the bar.
  2. Hire and train staff to provide excellent service to guests.
  3. Develop creative food and drink offerings that support the upscale cocktail lounge atmosphere.
  4. Take the lead on Tennessee Liquor Law awareness and ensure Pullman Standard is in compliance at all times.
  5. Supervise and train staff to be knowledgeable, personable, and hospitable.
  6. Remain in compliance with safety measures and consistently achieve a high health code rating.
  7. Assume responsibility for resolving problems during the course of business.
  8. Advertise current daily, weekly, or monthly promotions.
  9. Ensure the bar is well-stocked and clean.
  10. Track guest behavior and sales.
  11. Regularly monitor revenue through appropriate reports.
  12. Maintain/oversee budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
  13. Oversee planning for special events.
  14. Initiate and maintain vendor relationships.
  15. Conduct inventory and select and purchase liquor and other supplies.
  16. Issue invoices, monitor receivables, and be responsible for collections.
  17. Strive for excellence in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.

The above-listed duties are not all inclusive. This position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in an upscale bar/cocktail lounge setting.
  • Valid TABC license or permit.
  • Associates degree or higher in hotel or restaurant management preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  1. Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
  2. Knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office programs.
  3. Excellent service orientation.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests.
  5. Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  6. Attention to detail.
  7. Problem-solving skills.
  8. Strong leadership ability.
  9. Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
  10. Ability to remain calm in stressful or high-pressure situations.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Strong command of the English language.
  13. Ability to read and interpret financial data and documents.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and reach for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally.
  • Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
  • Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
