Position Overview
The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is seeking a dedicated part-time Cello Educator to deliver personalized instruction for the Pre-College division. This role involves engaging with students to foster their musical development and performance skills.
- Conduct weekly individual lessons aligned with the Pre-College academic schedule.
- Design tailored lesson plans and long-term educational strategies based on each student's unique requirements.
- Coordinate lesson timings in collaboration with the Pre-College Office.
- Prepare students for various performance opportunities, including recitals, auditions, and competitions.
- Provide ongoing assessments and constructive feedback to enhance student learning.
- Evaluate student performances during juries and auditions as needed.
- Write letters of recommendation upon request.
- Promote the Pre-College program at local and national levels; actively recruit students to ensure a thriving studio.
- Support and understand the Pre-College curriculum and its associated activities.
- Maintain timely communication with the Pre-College Office.
- Build collaborative relationships with music educators and arts organizations in the Bay Area.
- Participate in faculty meetings to contribute to program development.
Part-time, adhering to the Pre-College Academic Calendar from September through May.
Qualifications
- Exhibit exceptional musicianship and artistry as an educator.
- A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in arts education, along with a four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- Possess a strong foundation in cello pedagogy and repertoire.
- Candidates with experience in diverse educational settings are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to cultivate positive working relationships with administrative staff and faculty.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills; maintain a constructive relationship with parents while upholding high standards of excellence and creating an inspiring learning environment for students.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is mandatory for the selected candidate.

Compensation
$85.00 to $115.00 per hour, depending on experience.
