Position Overview:
The role involves serving as a Systems Engineer within the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Weapons Integration Product Team (IPT), focusing on the integration of stores and related hardware and software development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee F-35 weapon integration initiatives, acting as the primary contact for all related activities concerning assigned weapon systems.
- Ensure all aircraft and weapon integration tasks comply with the F-35 System Requirement Document(s), guaranteeing that the Joint Services receive effective and suitable mission capabilities.
- Collaborate with Weapon Program Offices to ensure aircraft integration efforts meet certification standards and align with weapon program timelines.
- Support various meetings including Joint Interface Control Working Group (JICWG), Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), and IPT status updates as necessary, serving as the government interface manager for designated weapon systems.
- Work alongside the Stores Certification IPT on activities such as wind tunnel evaluations, ground fit assessments, environmental testing, and store separation trials.
- Coordinate with NAVAIR and Air Force Seek Eagle organizations to ensure comprehensive analysis is conducted to support weapon certification and flight clearances.
- Engage in aircraft software development efforts to ensure proper weapon functionality is integrated.
- Participate in lab, ground, and flight testing, monitoring, reviewing, and providing feedback on test plans, procedures, and outcomes.
- Assist in weapon systems analysis as needed for Weapon Delivery Accuracy, Lethality, and Mission Effectiveness.
- Review and support planning and estimating for future weapons integration projects.
- Provide weekly status updates on integration activities to Weapons IPT leadership, including weapon roadmaps.
- Prepare monthly contributions for F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems (AV/MS) briefings to leadership.
Qualifications:
Due to the sensitive nature of the requirements, U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office (PMO).
Proven experience of 5+ years in integrating airborne weapons systems, including systems engineering, testing, and/or program management expertise is essential.
Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle process and its relevance to assigned weapon systems is necessary.
Demonstrated knowledge of fighter aircraft weapons practices and policies is preferred.
A military tactical weapons background is advantageous.
Ability to gather and analyze diverse weapons program information, make informed judgments regarding weapons, and effectively communicate recommendations to senior military and government leadership is crucial.
Strong briefing, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills are required.
Travel Requirements:
Travel is expected once per month (up to twice on occasion), with trips lasting 3-5 days. Foreign travel is unlikely but possible.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS is essential.
