About the Role

BHS Robotics is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop custom automated solutions for various industries.

This is an on-site position requiring up to 5% travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop manufacturing machinery and assembly equipment.
  • Perform technical project activities, including machine concept and design, selection of purchased components, timing diagrams, engineering calculations, and adherence to project-specific specifications and performance expectations.
  • Develop strong grasp of product fixturing, pneumatics, hydraulics, cold forming, fastening, electronic sensors selection, material selection, and their related machine integration capabilities.
  • Understand electro-mechanical devices, including presses, robots, conveyors, pick and places, gantries, indexing dials, walking beams, automatic product handling, and power transmission.
  • Develop understanding of in-process product inspection and testing, including leak testing, flow testing, vision inspection, load cells, LVDT's, torque sensing, eddy current inspection, and electrical testing.
  • Resolve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to crouch.
  • Ability to work within a noisy shop environment.
Experience
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in the engineering of equipment utilized within robotic welding operations.
  • 10+ years of prior experience required as mechanical engineer in an automation company.
  • CRM experience and experience utilizing MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint-based tools required.
  • Experience in communicating with the customer and presenting solutions in person, electronically, and verbally required.
  • SolidWorks advanced capabilities required.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances per ASME/ANSI required.
  • Strong quantitative, design, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Experience with structural FEA required.
