Job Summary:

The Family Specialist position at South Coast Children's Society is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with children, youth, and families to provide support, case management, and behavioral coaching. Key Responsibilities:

  • Family Support and Case Management: Provide a variety of supportive and case management services to children and families, including mentoring, coaching, behavioral support, and transportation to appointments.
  • Behavioral Support and Intervention: Recognize and reinforce positive behaviors, activities, and skills exhibited by children and youth, and provide behavioral support and intervention as needed.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Family-Centered Practice: Ensure sensitivity to family culture, values, and beliefs, and operate from a family-centered, strength-based perspective.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work in coordination with the client's multidisciplinary team, including county representatives, schools, and outside agencies, to develop and execute treatment plans.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain proficient and accurate documentation adhering to all program, contract, and payer standards.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: AA or Bachelor's degree in human services or related field and/or relevant experience working with youth in a mental health/social service setting.
  • Licensure and Certification: Valid CA driver's license and proof of automobile insurance, and completion of CPR/First Aid certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to Drive and Transport Clients: Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances to ensure safe transport to client settings and to safely transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs (1 or more flights) and walk while in route to and during family visits, and occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
