Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Great River Health. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will work under the supervision of an ophthalmologist to perform various clinical duties, including taking medical histories, administering eye medications, and performing ophthalmologic tests. Key Responsibilities:
• Take medical histories and administer eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
• Perform ophthalmologic tests, including visual acuity tests and refractions
• Assist with ophthalmic procedures, such as eye exams and surgeries
• Maintain ophthalmic and surgical instruments, as well as office equipment
• Serve as a resource person providing education and instruction to other ophthalmic support staff
Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Prefer two year college degree or formal ophthalmic training program
• Successful completion of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam within 18 months of eligibility
• Ophthalmic experience preferred
• Basic Cardiac Life Support required, with completion within 60 days of hire
• Dependent Adult Abuse & Child Abuse required, with completion within 180 days of hire
