Job Title: Financial Manager

The Financial Manager at Caliola Engineering, LLC is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management. This role involves strategic planning and financial analysis for Caliola.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement companywide budgeting procedures, advising and assisting departments with budget planning and documentation and monitoring budgets.
  • Manage accounting records, and preparation of financial accounting reports and statements.
  • Implement budget planning policies and procedures; establishes budget guidelines and instructions; analyzes budgets; participates in budget negotiations and preparation for the final budget.
  • Provides counsel and advice to management and plans and directs the functions of general and cost accounting activities, payroll, and financial planning and analysis activities.
  • Advises and assists departments with cost control methods, program planning and operational efficiencies.
  • Reviews budgets, policies and forecasts for adequacy of fund balances, financial soundness and compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and policies.
  • Maintains the general ledger system and subsidiary accounts and journals by preparing original and correcting journal entries to assure all financial data is included, valid, correctly categorized and balanced.
  • Prepares annual census reports and other federal and state reports.
  • Provides support needed for annual financial audit including year-end adjusting entries, GASB entries, related work papers and other documents.
  • Assists and trains staff in how to work with accounting systems and procedures.
  • Develop plans to meet unexpected situations and new developments; prepares for emergencies; keeps abreast of changes in field.
  • Performs internal auditing work to ensure compliance with applicable standards, policies, rules and regulations.
  • Manages the financial analysis activities and provides for the analysis and interpretation of past, present, and indicated future results of the organization, relating to revenue, costs, net income and EBITDA.
  • Manages and provides information for financial planning and budget preparation and follow up controls and comparisons relating to both short-term and long-term plans.
  • Provides information support for the preparation and filing of tax returns. Manages preparation and timely filing of all accounting and financial reports for governmental and regulatory agencies.
  • Develops, monitors, and distributes to management essential financial operating budgets, reports, and forecasts.
  • Reviews annual and intermediate budgets periodically to analyze trends affecting budget needs. Prepares the budget calendar and plans the budget process.
  • Responsible for preparing the annual indirect budget and present to Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) for audit and approval.
  • Responsible for interfacing with DCAA and DCMA as it relates to the Caliola accounting, indirect budgets, incurred cost submissions, policies and procedures, and compliance with all rules and regulations, to include, but not limited to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Responsible for the development of financial management data reflecting financial condition and operating results.
  • Supervises the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, as applicable.
  • Coordinates the annual audit with independent auditors.
  • Manages the activities of the program finance, cost control and program scheduling function in the government contractor environment.
  • Coordinates, negotiates, and resolves financial compliance issues with various governmental agencies to ensure accurate interpretation of contract requirements.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental development of program plans and interfaces with vendors and customers as required.
  • Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that contractual cost and schedule objectives are met.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field and a minimum of 7 years' experience in professional accounting and financial management.
  • Strong analytical, communication and reporting skills and strong financial business principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key details, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex finance and accounting concepts to individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex finance and accounting issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated strong analytic and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations with grace.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. Security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Unanet experience.
  • iSolved (GovConPay) experience.
  • Master's degree.
  • Tech Savy.
  • Defense Contractor experience.

Location: This position will require you to work in the Colorado Springs office. Occasional telecommuting may be approved. No relocation assistance will be provided.
