At BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital, the position of Veterinary Technician offers an exhilarating, high-energy opportunity to apply the expertise you have diligently developed. You will also have the chance to broaden your skill set while collaborating with some of the most skilled veterinary professionals in the field.
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia in patients while utilizing anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Performing digital radiography with proper techniques, ensuring correct patient positioning.
- Understanding normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rates, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtaining and interpreting blood pressure and other vital signs, promptly notifying the Veterinarian of any changes or concerns.
- Identifying patients at risk for cardiac arrest and initiating CPR when necessary.
- Accurately calculating medical dosages (including constant rate infusions) and administering medications through appropriate routes and durations.
- Proficiently performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Demonstrating patience and empathy in addressing client inquiries and concerns.
