Position Overview
BluePearl is seeking a skilled Veterinarian Associate Neurologist to join our team. As a key member of our neurology department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct initial client consultations to review medical history, perform physical examinations, and recommend diagnostics or surgical procedures.
• Provide owners with estimates of charges and obtain informed consent.
• Communicate effectively with owners and referring primary care veterinarians throughout the patient's care, including updates on finances and revisions to the estimate.
• Interpret diagnostic results, including bloodwork, advanced imaging, electrodiagnostics, cultures, cytology, or histopathology, and make treatment or monitoring recommendations based on the results.
• Operate medical equipment used in animal treatment, such as MRI, CT, myelograms, spinal fluid analysis, electrodiagnostics, muscle/nerve biopsy, etc.

Leadership and Education
• Independently responsible for all aspects of neurological care, including prescribing preoperative medications, interpreting intraoperative monitoring, administering intraoperative medication, and performing neurologic surgical procedures.
• Prescribe medications for home care, write discharge instructions, and advise on follow-up care with neurologists, primary care veterinarians, or rehabilitation specialists.
• Supervise small animal rotating interns, specialty neurology interns, and neurology residents in all aspects of case management and communication.
• Field consultation calls from the referring veterinary community and serve as primary on-call or backup to senior residents for after-hours emergency neurological procedures.
• Supervise small animal neurology residents in research design, research methods, research practices, and peer-reviewed manuscript preparation to support residency training requirements for publication.
• Provide education to the veterinary community through Continuing Education Seminars and serve on hospital committees or other duties as requested.

Requirements
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree (foreign equivalent accepted)
• Completion of rotating veterinary internship
• Completion of veterinary neurology residence
• Board certified by ACVIM or eligibility for board certification within two years of start date
• Active veterinarian license in the state of Texas
