Deliver exceptional pet care by utilizing comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment. Verify and manage medication inventory. Ensure patients have access to food and water, maintain cleanliness in patient areas, and observe for clinical signs of illness. As directed, prepare prescriptions and administer medications, ensuring proper documentation and security of controlled substances. Uphold a safe and humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing areas, and adhering to legal regulations. Maintain medical records by accurately documenting patient conditions and updates in a timely manner. Communicate patient status to pet owners as directed by the veterinarian. Ensure equipment is maintained according to operational guidelines and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Manage inventory by placing orders for supplies and maintaining accurate records. Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional literature. Prepare pets for release to their owners, ensuring they are clean and well-groomed. Follow oral and written instructions effectively. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Reliability: Shows responsibility in completing tasks and meeting objectives. Initiative: Actively seeks opportunities to improve processes and follow through on tasks. Adaptability: Adjusts quickly to changing demands and manages multiple priorities. Communication Skills: Engages effectively with others using appropriate methods. Customer Service Orientation: Strives to provide exceptional service and exceed expectations. Organizational Skills: Maintains thorough and organized documentation systems. Compliance: Consistently adheres to established procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of two years of experience in veterinary care, including appointments, surgeries, and nursing for hospitalized patients. Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, or LVMT) is preferred, or as required by state regulations. Equivalent combinations of education, certification, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Familiarity with the preparation, monitoring, and recovery processes for pets undergoing surgery, along with basic nursing skills. Ability to perform procedures such as catheter placement, phlebotomy, and emergency care. Understanding of safety protocols to minimize exposure to bites and injuries. Competence in restraining animals according to standard procedures. Ability to fill prescriptions and monitor sedation as directed by the veterinarian. Capability to work in environments with sick animals and potentially hazardous materials. Confidence in handling pets under stress or in pain. Professional demeanor in job responsibilities. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for weekends and holidays. Physical demands of the job include lifting, cleaning, and continuous movement. Tasks may involve extended periods of standing or walking, as well as some climbing or kneeling. Some responsibilities may require lifting animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
