Auction Title Clerk Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare legal transfer documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Verify and enter fees assigned to vehicles
  • Submit all legal transfer documents to the DMV
  • Prepare checks to reimburse buyers for DMV fees
  • Input title information into auction software for sold cars
  • Determine outstanding fees owed by looking up Vehicle Information Number (VIN) in the state DMV system
  • Prepare and maintain vehicle jackets
  • Secure titles until customers retrieve them
  • Prepare express shipments or registered mail and ship titles to customers who have paid for their vehicles
  • Administer all title processing for auction transactions
  • Create title reports and amounts owed for flooring companies
  • Stay current with applicable state laws and DMV regulations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two years of experience in a dealership position preferred
  • Previous tag and title experience preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of title and DMV laws and regulations required
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experience with DMV and/or Auction Edge/ASI auction systems a plus
