JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Support II role is essential in managing the flow of materials and products within the organization. This position is accountable for the reception and organization of incoming supplies, retrieval of items from the warehouse, and preparation for dispatch using suitable packaging techniques. The role involves collaboration with carriers and the sales team to ensure efficient shipment processing, along with the creation and management of all necessary documentation for both domestic and international deliveries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Adhere to the daily operational schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Conduct inventory transactions to uphold accuracy in stock levels.
- Assist in expediting orders to meet shipping deadlines.
- Stock inventory items received from shipments.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Generate shipping documentation for both domestic and international shipments; maintain regular communication with freight companies and forwarders to arrange shipments, and prepare necessary documents such as packing slips and waybills to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Label packed cartons with shipping information; verify outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with all specifications, including customs documentation.
- Receive goods delivered to the facility; inspect for damage and notify supervisors of any issues; reject goods lacking proper documentation.
- Unpack and assess incoming shipments, document shortages, and coordinate with shippers to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain an inventory of shipping materials and supplies; assist with inventory control and cycle counting.
- Operate lift trucks and hand trucks to safely move shipments from the shipping and receiving area to storage or work locations.
- Perform inventory control duties as necessary.
- Exhibit professionalism under pressure, maintain positive working relationships, and demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Occasional local travel may be required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in domestic and international shipping, or a combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Ability to obtain Forklift Certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to perform essential functions effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The employee will frequently need to communicate verbally and audibly, stand, walk, crouch, bend, and reach with hands and arms. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally (assistance available). Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and various weather conditions. Noise levels can vary from moderate to extreme, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided as required. PPE may include steel-toe boots, hard hats, and safety glasses. Working conditions may include heights, confined spaces, and other physical demands.
