Job Summary:The primary responsibility of this position is to provide ASL/English interpretation services to support the communication needs of our residents and staff. This role requires strong ASL skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide ASL interpretation services for residents, staff, and visitors
- Coordinate with staff to ensure seamless communication and support
- Collaborate with outside agencies to secure additional interpreters as needed
- Work effectively in teams with other sign language interpreters
- Adhere to the standards of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Three years' experience in ASL/English interpretation preferred
- Completion of an accredited interpreter training program or equivalent certification
- Previous experience working in senior living preferred
- Proficiency in tactile American Sign Language (ASL) for DeafBlind residents
- Current CPR, First-Aid, and Food Handler cards
- Meet the standards for Sign Language Interpreters according to the Oregon Health Authority: Health Licensing Office
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Either a 3.5 EIPA Oregon state minimum score or NIC passing score
- Proof of current and valid malpractice insurance
- Membership in the Registry of the Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- State certification if required by regulation
