This unique part-time position offers the opportunity to work within acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient services at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The specific schedule will be determined based on patient volumes, primarily focusing on acute care and inpatient rehabilitation initially, with the potential to transition to outpatient services as volumes increase.

This role may require evening and weekend availability.

OFFERING A $2500 SIGN-ON BONUS PAYABLE IN TWO INSTALLMENTS - 50% AFTER 90 DAYS - 50% AFTER ONE YEAR

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough and timely evaluations in line with established departmental and professional standards, leading to accurate Physical Therapy diagnoses.
  • Implement and manage Physical Therapy programs for patients in a timely manner, adhering to departmental and professional standards.
  • Communicate patient-related information effectively to nursing and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and adherence to treatment recommendations.
  • Provide information and support to patients and their families regarding the nature and severity of physical disorders, current treatment plans, recovery prognosis, and techniques to enhance adherence to desired behaviors.
  • Understand the implications of managed care on the delivery of Physical Therapy services.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in departmental administrative tasks, continuous improvement initiatives, quality assurance, and safety programs.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Licensure:
  • Must be eligible for licensure to practice in Illinois
    • 0-3 Credential for Pediatrics
Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
  • Ability to recognize the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in the application of various modalities and therapeutic techniques.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • May encounter hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases.
  • Direct contact with bodily fluids; ability to perform heavy lifting (lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly).
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods.
  • Services may be required on weekends and holidays and during early evening hours.
  • Off-campus locations may be involved.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts exceeding 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist, patient handling equipment is expected to be utilized, with at least one other associate when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
