Role OverviewThe Associate General Counsel, Commercial will play a pivotal role in developing and managing the legal aspects of Slate's commercial supply chain contracts. Key Responsibilities- Serve as a trusted business partner to Slate's procurement and capital equipment teams to support the supply chain and manufacturing of Slate products.
- Draft, negotiate, and process complex capital equipment, manufacturing, and related procurement contracts.
- Serve as a key individual contributor in Slate's end-to-end contract management function supporting the business and procurement team.
- Help drive implementation of legal efficiencies and develop scalable contract processes, including best-in-class templates, negotiation playbooks, trainings, and policies.
- Represent Slate legally in commercial interactions and disputes with suppliers, while balancing the business interests.
- Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal cross-functional teams regarding business and legal risks.
- 10+ years' experience in the practice of commercial law. Preferred experience in manufacturing supply chain matters.
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school, along with active membership in at least one state bar.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex supply agreements, development agreements, and related procurement contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, demonstrate diplomacy, and otherwise interact well with colleagues and management.
- Highly disciplined with the ability to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong work ethic and ability to handle and advance multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Experience with some combination of law firm and in-house in the automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Base salary - US wide $119,012 - $255,165
- The stated pay scale reflects the range that Slate reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
- In addition to base pay, Slate also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs – 401k match, annual bonus, and company equity, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans, HSA/FSA.
