The Veterinary Receptionist is a key member of our animal care team, responsible for providing exceptional client service and support to our veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Client Communication: Greet clients and pets by name, answer phone calls promptly and professionally, and provide knowledgeable advice on animal care and wellness.
- Scheduling and Appointments: Schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital guidelines, and make confirmation calls to clients.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including client conversations and required information.
- Payment and Financial Management: Collect payment for services rendered, process credit card transactions, and verify client eligibility for charge accounts.
- Prescription and Retail Management: Fill prescription refill forms, provide routine administration instructions to clients, and advise on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, and other retail items.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in a veterinary clinic or customer service role preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, and strong attention to detail.
- Computer Knowledge: Proficient in computer software and hardware, including keyboarding and use of communication tools.
- Veterinary Terminology: Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning.
