Job Summary

As an Underwriting and Placement Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our Underwriting & Placement Team in various aspects of commercial insurance underwriting and placement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Support: Assist in the underwriting process, including reviewing and analyzing risk profiles, and making informed decisions to ensure accurate and timely placement of commercial insurance policies.
  • Market and Place Insurance: Market and place commercial insurance policies with carriers, ensuring that clients receive the best possible coverage and rates.
  • Task Management: Utilize Image Right to maintain and update tasks, and keep the RFP process up to date, ensuring seamless workflow and efficient operations.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and clients to ensure excellent customer service and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional accreditation necessary to meet agency standards and participate in continuing education programs to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Team Collaboration: Build and maintain a positive and professional work relationship with other staff members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Adhere to established employee manual policies and guidelines, and adhere to workflow procedures to reduce the risk of E&O claims.
  • Claims Reporting: Promptly report all E&O claims and potential E&O claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and agency information.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education: College degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensure: Obtain a NYS Brokers license within 6 months of hire.
  • Initiative and Experience: Ability to take initiative and prior experience in insurance lines of coverage, fundamental rating, underwriting, and procedural skills a plus.
  • Agency or Company Background: Agency or company background in commercial insurance underwriting preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, and experience with Vertafore a plus.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Communicates and works well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company in a professional manner.
  • Organizational Ability: High level of organizational ability with attention to detail.
