The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lab Services Specialist to join our team. As a Lab Services Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care by collecting and processing laboratory specimens, performing venipuncture, and assisting with other clinical support services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens with precision and accuracy
  • Perform venipuncture and other clinical support services with a focus on patient comfort and safety
  • Assist with extended scope duties, including non-blood specimen collection, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing, inventory upkeep, and tool sterilization
  • Provide exceptional patient care and communication, answering patient messages, following up on lab cases, and assisting providers and virtual medical teams with clerical duties
  • Master our technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and our Electronic Medical Record System, to interact with team members and complete daily work
Requirements:
  • An active phlebotomy certification to practice in CA and at least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including typing, navigating the internet, and using multiple software systems simultaneously
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (additional experience with remote teams a plus)
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust during the collection process while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks
  • Experience with extended scope care, including non-blood specimen collection and processing, EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs, preferred

Work Environment

This is a full-time role (40 hrs/week) with 8 hr shifts generally taking place between 8am-6pm based in our San Francisco, CA offices.
