Job Summary

As a member of the American Conservation Experience team, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful conservation projects throughout the Mountain West region. Our team is dedicated to protecting and preserving our natural resources, and we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our crew.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Crew Leaders in the logistics and administration of teams of Conservation Corps members performing environmental conservation and restoration projects
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and be prepared to hike extended distances on rough terrain
  • Collaborate with public agencies, such as the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management, to complete conservation projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local communities and stakeholders to promote conservation efforts
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Able and willing to work in a group and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to hike moderate distances in rough terrain and work at high elevations
  • Strong desire to enter the conservation field as a natural resource professional
Benefits
  • Member compensation and benefits package valued at over $1,700/month
  • Living allowance of $480/week, paid bi-weekly
  • Education award of $1,500 for 13 weeks or $3,000 for 26 weeks upon successful completion of service
  • Free housing during term of service
Work Environment

The work environment will be outdoors, with frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation. The crew will work in a variety of settings, including national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges. The member will be required to hike extended distances on rough terrain and work at high elevations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, standing, walking, hiking, carrying, and using hands to handle or feel. The member will be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch. Ability to hike over rough terrain and camp overnight under field conditions.

Travel

This position requires domestic travel, with frequent trips to remote locations throughout the Mountain West region.
