Radiologic Mammography Specialist

Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Mammography Technologist and the Radiology Management team, the Mammography Technologist is responsible for executing mammography imaging procedures and associated techniques that facilitate interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. This role adheres to established professional standards as well as state and federal regulatory guidelines.
Educational Background
Must be a graduate from a program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Certifications and Licenses
Required Registration: Must hold a current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; advanced certification in Mammography is required within two years of employment.
Required Certification: Must possess a current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or an equivalent credential.
Required Licensure: Must be licensed and certified by the NH Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
Experience Requirements
No prior experience is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts mammography diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in accordance with departmental standards and within the scope of practice. Evaluates relevant information, prepares patients, and educates them about procedures and expectations. Completes necessary documentation regarding patient care and procedures performed. Utilizes hospital and departmental information systems and equipment effectively. Maintains productivity, adaptability, and flexibility in managing workload to meet patient care and departmental needs. Follows departmental policies and procedures, adhering to safety protocols specific to the modality. Actively participates in departmental meetings and initiatives aimed at quality improvement. Completes all hospital, departmental, and professional requirements. The employee may be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and radiation, and occasionally to airborne pathogens, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, chemotherapeutic agents, electrical hazards, non-weather-related heat or cold, slippery surfaces, toxic or caustic chemicals, and variable weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
