Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinical Secretary to join our team at Dartmouth Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to our healthcare providers and staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient referrals, scheduling appointments, and tracking wait times
  • Respond to patient calls, provide general information, and educate patients on medical procedures
  • Assess patient needs, process requests for prescriptions, forms, and appointments
  • Review schedules daily for accuracy and make adjustments as needed
  • Monitor and complete system messages in a timely manner
  • Complete authorizations and pre-certifications for external procedures
  • Support providers and staff in addressing patient questions and concerns
  • Act as liaison between primary care physicians and specialists outside of DH
  • Monitor referral work queues and process new referrals according to established procedures
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year experience in a provider office
  • Knowledge of insurance benefit programs and medical terminology
  • Ability to effectively interact with providers, staff, patients, and insurance plan representatives
  • Prior computer experience, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
