Job Description

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Classification Analyst to provide programmatic and technical expertise to the SRNL Classification Program.

In this role, you will assist the Classification Officer in supporting the management and oversight of the SRNL Classification Programs, including the development, implementation, and oversight of the Operation Security (OPSEC) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Program.

You will work collaboratively with peers in the SRNL Classification Office to support the Laboratories CO in successfully implementing the Laboratory's Information Security Programs in accordance with internal requirements, DOE requirements, and other federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the OPSEC and CUI Programs, including strategic planning, risk management, and oversight of program implementation.
  • Work with multiple organizations to collaborate and implement the Information Security programs to align with mission and organizational strategic business plans.
  • Review scientific papers and reports to identify scientific and technical information that requires protection or control.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing Federal OPSEC, CUI, and Classification policies, laws, and statutes.
  • Assist the Classification Officer in maintaining and administering the Classification Program, including coordinating with all levels of staff and management.
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationships by networking with SRNL management, staff, and Field Intelligence Element (FIE) to foster integration, best practices, and meet organizational goals.
  • Provide recommendations to resolve OPSEC, CUI, and Classification/UCNI issues affecting SRNL mission objectives.
  • Analyze complex information and provide interpretations to identify OPSEC, CUI, and Classification controls that will be required on programmatic work products or processes to adhere to current DOE and other federal agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science and/or technical field with a minimum of 7-9 years of relevant experience in classification or reviewing research and development documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretation abilities.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory and DOE complex.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs.
