Position Overview

The Financial Professional 1 is an introductory role within the Finance department. This position is tasked with delivering professional-level decision support within the RAR organization. Responsibilities include managing the receipt of goods and services, processing invoices, executing special services billing for clients, and maintaining accurate customer billing data in the WDS system. Additionally, this role involves ordering goods and services as requested through the Procurement system, assisting with customer billing inquiries, resolving billing issues, and participating in the annual financial planning cycle for budget preparation and the establishment of billing rates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting and Financial Planning Activities (60%)
    • Process invoices, confirm receipt, record entries in EFS, and prepare invoices for payment.
    • Support the maintenance of customer billing information in the WDS system.
    • Address billing inquiries and implement necessary corrections.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
    • Contribute to the calculations for per diem and special services rates.
    • Manage departmental billing email communications.
    • Conduct financial reporting and perform ad hoc analyses as required.
  • Procurement Activities (30%)
    • Facilitate procurement processes by identifying suitable vendors.
    • Execute PCard and UMarket orders for departmental needs.
    • Investigate payment discrepancies with suppliers and suggest appropriate actions.
  • Backup and Other Duties (10%)
    • Provide backup support for other accounting responsibilities.
    • Assist with processing cage cards when additional help is needed.
    • Engage in special projects such as updating manuals and creating job aids.
Qualifications

Required:
BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting, or a combination of related education and relevant business experience totaling four years. Familiarity with financial and economic terminology, experience with ERP systems like PeopleSoft, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite are essential. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment are also required.

Preferred:
Experience in a university setting, attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong customer service abilities.
