We support the mission and vision of CHI Health by performing accurate and skilled blood collection procedures, conducting related duties as a professional member of the healthcare team, and performing various clerical and specimen processing tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Transport, collect, receive, and prepare biological specimens for patients of all ages, using procedures consistent with safe work practices and proper laboratory techniques, maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Organize and prioritize workload by LEAN principles for efficient, accurate, and timely specimen collection and processing, meeting quality standards of laboratory testing.
  • Utilize effective customer service skills (cordial, positive attitude, helpfulness) in encounters with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members, resulting in high customer satisfaction levels.
  • If required by facility, perform patient testing, maintenance, daily quality control, testing of proficiency samples for bedside monitors, and record results in the Laboratory Information System.
  • Ensure accurate and timely registration of reference lab patients.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED

Required Licensure and Certifications:
None for all campuses except:
CHI CUMC Bergan: Valid Driver's License
CHI Good Samaritan: Valid Driver's License

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
Detail-oriented and strong customer service skills

Preferred:
Phlebotomy certification or completion of a phlebotomy course
