Job Title: Clinical Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our team at Burrell Behavioral Health. As a Clinical Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, combining medical expertise with interpersonal skills to build trust, ease anxiety, and improve outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as a resource person for nursing and medical issues, overseeing infectious disease control, client hygiene, and related client and facility health issues.
  • Perform all appropriate nursing assessments, utilizing a high level of clinical competence, including initial admission assessments, post-restraint assessments, AIMS, physical and mental health assessments, and psychiatric screeners.
  • Administer or oversee administration of medications via various methods, according to service line requirements, and conduct Medication Administration Record (MAR) reviews as indicated.
  • Communicate with clients regarding medication questions and needs, and stage refill requests to providers according to standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Room clients, verify client data/medical history, confirm purpose of visit, and obtain necessary physical preliminary requirements, such as blood draw, urine sample, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner, including nursing assessments, physical and spoken interventions with clients, and client safety plans and psychiatry screeners.
  • Guarantee that all medical and medication records are up-to-date and accurate, and ensure appropriate prior authorization paperwork is completed for maintenance of client medication compliance.
  • Assist as needed with general lab and phlebotomy duties, such as venipuncture and obtaining urine samples, while following universal infection control precautions.
  • Enter lab requisitions electronically via outside lab processing company, coordinate communication of results of all labs performed to ordering providers via entry into the EHR, and communicate critical results immediately via entry into the EHR, email/instant messaging, and verbally, as appropriate to providers.
  • Function as a resource person for nursing and medical issues, oversee infectious disease control, client hygiene, and related client and facility health issues, under the supervision of nursing leadership.
  • Assist, according to service line, with ensuring medical appointments are made and kept, and be available as an on-call resource for needs after-hours per service line requirements, as assigned.
  • Interview clients, families, and/or guardians to gather pertinent nursing and medical history, and secure client records from outside agencies when necessary.
  • Secure client information and maintain confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records, and knowledge and implementation of safeguarding protected health information by methods such as maintaining private user names and passwords, encryption, and other methods as indicated.
  • Participate in all required meetings as assigned, and perform other related duties as required, assigned, and/or delegated by nursing leadership.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Valid licensure as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN)
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as lab results, notes, and documents within an electronic health record, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence clearly and effectively via multiple methods, in various platforms
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to problem solve involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Shall be able to follow direction and accept supervision
