Position Summary

We are in search of a Security Operations Supervisor to become part of our firm. This role will be stationed in our Washington D.C. office, requiring in-office presence. The Security Operations Supervisor will oversee the daily functions of security personnel and ensure that operational needs are fulfilled. This position assists the department Manager in maintaining oversight of the firm’s office environment to guarantee safety and security. Responsibilities include providing problem-solving support and participating in departmental projects, including Emergency Response/Crisis Management protocols and theft investigations. The Supervisor will collaborate with building management on various security matters, including the organization of surveillance systems.

  • Supervises the daily operations of security staff to ensure timely and effective delivery of security functions in alignment with business requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of security technologies, surveillance methods, and trends affecting operations.
  • Evaluates and implements safety initiatives for the Washington, DC Office, adhering to best practices in the security industry.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with local law enforcement and fire protection agencies.
  • Collaborates with building management and security vendors to monitor and maintain security systems and equipment.
  • Conducts thorough security risk assessments and generates reports on findings, aiming to prevent or mitigate risks while safeguarding significant firm assets.
  • Performs and documents internal investigations regarding criminal and disciplinary matters as necessary.
  • Intervenes to address issues arising from security breaches.
  • Assists the department Manager in maintaining Emergency Response/Crisis Management plans and participates in the Crisis Management Committee.
  • Supports the department Manager during emergencies or natural disasters to ensure a coordinated and professional approach to safety and security.
  • Works with the NY Office Security Director to develop and implement training programs in safety, security, and disaster preparedness for Washington, DC Office personnel.
  • Stays informed about current events in the metropolitan area and their potential impact on security needs, providing periodic safety alerts to personnel.
  • Acts as a liaison with garage management for associated facilities.
  • Ensures staff are knowledgeable about firm policies and industry trends, promoting ongoing professional development.
  • Participates in the hiring, selection, and training processes.
  • Recommends and implements procedural changes to higher management.
  • Coordinates departmental projects and oversees daily operations and long-term planning.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the departmental budget.
  • Monitors time, attendance, and expense reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Participates in disciplinary procedures in collaboration with senior management and Human Resources.
  • Utilizes the firm's performance management process to set expectations, monitor performance, and address any issues.
  • Guides employees in resolving work-related challenges.
  • Recommends practices to enhance efficiency, customer service, and employee relations, aligning with the firm's Core Values.
  • Develops and communicates departmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensures timely responses to requests for departmental services.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and trends.
  • Proficiency in relevant software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Experience with the annual budget process.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and coach staff.
  • Capability to enforce firm policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to meet operational needs.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of security experience in a professional services firm, law enforcement, or military setting, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
