Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Gymnastics Coach to join our team at the Family YMCA of The Glens Falls Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and instructing gymnastics program participants, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and instruct gymnastics program participants, adhering to YMCA guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Attend all required staff trainings, special events, and meetings to stay updated on program developments and best practices.
  • Take attendance and collect program participant evaluations as required.
  • Implement discipline procedures and general rules, ensuring all participants adhere to these guidelines.
  • Report severe and persistent behavior problems to the Gymnastics and Arts Director.
  • Provide high-quality gymnastics, dance, and tumble instruction under the supervision of gymnastics management staff.
  • Follow risk management and emergency procedures, administering first aid as needed and submitting accident/incident reports promptly.
  • Serve as a positive role model and leader for all program participants.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with participants, co-workers, and supervisors, providing regular feedback to participants and parents.
  • Assist with clean-up at the end of each day, including props.
  • Attend meets and special events as scheduled.
  • Read and implement the gymnastics policies and procedures handout, outlining dress code, time off procedures, and other essential guidelines.
Requirements
  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Experience supervising and working with children.
  • Experience working with compulsory levels and/or optional.
  • YMCA Gymnastics Instructor or USAG PDP1 Certification preferred.
  • USAG Safety Certification required (will train).
  • Obtain/maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to spot and teach skills and progressions for team levels, as well as create lesson plans.
  • Strong leadership qualities and a responsible attitude.
