Overview of the Medical Surgical Unit

The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy is a 48-bed unit that provides care to acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Our team manages patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions, including care for patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis, as well as pre and post-op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care to a diverse range of patients with various medical and surgical conditions.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and respond to changes in their status.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in the field.

Requirements

  • At least one year of previous clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program required.
  • Current Arkansas LPN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification through an American Heart Association approved program.
