Position Overview:

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will deliver comprehensive care encompassing acute, chronic, emergency, and preventive services to residents in remote communities, aligning with the mission and values of Norton Sound Health Corporation.

Maintain adherence to the organization's philosophy, policies, and operational procedures while working under the direct supervision of the TB Liaison in Nome.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations for patients with Tuberculosis or those in close contact with infected individuals.
  • Develop culturally relevant educational materials and conduct communication needs assessments.
  • Collaborate with the NSHC Physician TB Liaison to ensure completion of tasks outlined in the TB action plan.
  • Plan and deliver patient care under physician supervision.
  • Perform thorough physical examinations and gather comprehensive patient medical histories.
  • Provide effective care for illnesses and injuries, focusing on disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
  • Utilize a systematic approach for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation to address the holistic needs of patients and their families.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective patient care, including discharge planning and adherence to prescribed medical regimens.
  • Facilitate learning for patients and families by explaining disease processes and intervention plans.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in caring for diverse populations, including those with critical, traumatic, mental health, emergency, maternal/neonatal, and pediatric needs.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Master's Degree in Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Experience:

0 years of general experience required; supervisory experience not indicated.

Credentials:

Must be licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in Alaska, with certifications in NCCPA, PALS, Medivac, ACLS, and BLS. A current collaborating agreement with NSHC Medical Staff is also required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate clinical equipment using hands and arms.
  • Capability to stand or walk for the majority of the workday.
  • Ability to lift or carry weights between 25 to 50 pounds unaided.
  • Normal visual and auditory acuity.
Working Environment:

  • Work occurs in both standard office and clinical settings, with potential exposure to biohazards.
  • Travel may be required via various modes of transportation.
