Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

UCLA Humanities Technology (HumTech) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Digital Services Group, you will be responsible for maintaining a stable and secure computing delivery platform, as well as seeking new ways to modernize and innovate for the specific needs of the Humanities Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architecting, planning, implementing, and maintaining both on-premises and cloud-based systems that directly impact the day-to-day computing environment for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Managing tasks in all phases of the IT Service Management lifecycle, including systems design, configuration, server upgrades, updates, migrations, and installation of software and hardware.
  • Serving as technical lead on operations and projects for current and future humanities computing infrastructures, and driving disaster recovery/business continuity planning.
  • Creating and maintaining architecture documentation for all systems and software, and proposing solutions for complex or unique operational needs.
  • Serving as a technical consultant to faculty, staff, and students regarding Linux server or research computing issues and solutions, and serving as a technical liaison for HumTech to central IT and other organizations on campus.
Requirements:
  • Strong technical skills in systems engineering, cloud computing, and IT service management.
  • Experience with architecting and implementing complex systems, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
