Join the Magnolia Independent School District team as a School Nurse - RN and play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students.
Job Summary:The School Nurse - RN will provide comprehensive health services to students, including health education, screenings, and referrals. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to implement policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct care to students using professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
- Serve as a health advocate for students and notify parents of accidents or illnesses.
- Coordinate the administration of medications to students at school and establish effective procedures for mandatory screening programs.
- Develop and implement a campus health program and make changes based on findings.
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
- CPR Certification.
- Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
The School Nurse - RN will work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining emotional control under stress. Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases is possible. The ability to lift 30 pounds and frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing are required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:The School Nurse - RN will direct the work of licensed vocational nurses and assigned health clinic aides.
Equipment Used:The School Nurse - RN will use a thermometer, blood pressure cuff, audiometer, otoscope, sphygmomanometer, vision screening equipment, thermoscan, basic clinic equipment, computer, and copier.
