Position Overview

The Operating Room Supply Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical environment by executing various tasks that support the Operating Room (OR) team. This includes assisting with essential duties to ensure the efficient turnover of surgical suites, managing inventory of surgical supplies, preparing surgical cases, and transporting necessary equipment and materials within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

The following responsibilities outline the primary functions of this position; additional tasks may be assigned as needed:

  • Supply Management
    • Restocking and organizing surgical supplies and instruments.
    • Facilitating the turnover process of OR rooms.
    • Transporting equipment, supplies, and specimens as required.
    • Ensuring the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and core areas.
    • Completing laser operation training and maintaining proficiency for safe use when assigned.
    • Participating in mandatory orientations, meetings, and training sessions.
    • Exhibiting flexibility in work scheduling to prioritize patient care.
  • Workplace Conduct
    • Adhering to safety protocols and assisting colleagues in compliance.
    • Following Human Resources and departmental policies, staying informed on updates.
    • Utilizing equipment in accordance with established policies.
    • Assessing the safety of equipment and reporting any issues promptly.
    • Understanding the cost implications of resources and conserving them effectively.
    • Offering suggestions for efficient resource utilization within the department.
    • Reporting concerns to the Charge Person in a timely manner.
    • Documenting patient observations accurately and promptly.
    • Adapting to changes in the work environment effectively.
    • Delivering high-quality work that is thorough and professional.
    • Being dependable and accountable for all assigned tasks.
