Primary Clinical Specialist

The Primary Clinical Specialist is a key member of our team at Central Indiana Orthopedics, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our physicians in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Physicians: Serve as a primary assistant to our physicians, performing clinical and administrative duties as requested.
- Coordinate Patient Care: Ensure that applicable test documentation and/or records are in-house and attached to patients' files in advance of scheduled visits.
- Schedule Appointments: Coordinate additional scheduling of surgery for patients and referrals to other physicians as necessary and requested by physicians.
- Prepare Patients: Prepare patients for examination and treatment by observing, recording, and assessing patient's condition, noting reactions to drugs and treatments, obtaining vital signs, and taking patient's past surgical, medical, social, and family history.
- Update Patient Files: Update and maintain patient files, records, posts tests and examination results, formulates and updates patient care plans, and other information with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform Administrative Duties: Perform selected administrative duties specific to clinic operations, including but not limited to screening telephone calls for referral to physician, assisting with the scheduling of tests and procedures, scheduling appointments and ensuring preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
- Education: Completion of an accredited program in nursing (Associate's or Bachelor's degree), medical assisting (Associate's degree) or athletic training (Bachelor's degree) required.
- Experience: One to two years' professional experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Certification/License: Must possess and maintain in good standing with one of the following: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) OR Indiana state Licensed Practical Nurse license (LPN).
Working environment is in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work requires standing for long periods of time and excessive walking. Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting/assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
