Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Boys' Soccer Coach to lead our Junior Varsity team at Uncommon Schools. As a key member of our athletic department, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise the JV soccer program and team, ensuring a positive and productive team environment.
  • Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Teach basic and advanced soccer techniques and principles, aligned with our Varsity program.
  • Ensure that all athletic activities conform to MIAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school community, including students, parents, and staff.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal.
  • Support the value of education and the mission and philosophy of Uncommon Schools.
  • Assist in the development of team rules and regulations, and equitably enforce them.
  • Ensure that student-athletes meet eligibility rules and adhere to training rules, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
  • Continually supervise student-athletes on the field, in conditioning, and other environments.
  • Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
  • Report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Athletic Director or Head Varsity Coach.
  • Stay up-to-date with new information, innovative ideas, and techniques in the field of soccer coaching.
Qualifications
  • Coaching experience, preferably in soccer.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current MIAA Coaching Certificate (we can assist in acquiring).
  • CPR, NFHS First Aid, and NFHS Sportsmanship certificates (we can assist in acquiring).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive, with qualifications under Uncommon Schools' insurance carrier when driving a school vehicle.
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is up to $2,000 based on experience. The position requires a 4-day workweek, with practice sessions and games scheduled on weekdays from 4:30-6:00pm at the Roxbury YMCA.
