This capital is strategically managed within a globally diversified, multi-asset class framework aimed at achieving a 5% real return annually.
This portfolio serves as the financial backbone for the Foundation's grant-making initiatives and various organizational expenditures.
The Senior Analyst, Alpha Analytics and Portfolio Risk plays a crucial role in monitoring and reporting on risk and return dynamics that influence the Foundation's portfolio, while also aiding in the execution of the Foundation's portable alpha strategy.
This role reports directly to the Managing Director of Asset Allocation, Risk Management, and Alpha Strategies, with regular engagement with the Chief Investment Officer.
Key Responsibilities:- Calculate and track risk and return metrics for the portfolio, including the development of detailed reports and custom analytics.
- Actively participate as a member of the Risk Committee.
- Implement the Foundation's portable alpha strategy, collaborating with the overlay manager and executing derivatives transactions to manage market exposure.
- Monitor and manage the Foundation's counterparty risk effectively.
- Analyze and oversee a portfolio of short-term cash enhancement instruments.
- Engage in prospective manager presentations and assist in the performance evaluation, due diligence, and underwriting of potential investments.
- Contribute to quantitative analytic projects across the portfolio, focusing on asset allocation, risk management, and sensitivity analysis.
- Assess portfolio construction and its implications on risk and return across the investment landscape.
- Measure currency and factor exposure within the portfolio, evaluating hedging strategies for both public and private investments.
- Prepare verbal and written presentations as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- A bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, engineering, or computer science, with a strong preference for candidates who are CFA candidates or charterholders.
- A minimum of 3-7 years of experience in financial markets, with a solid understanding of equity derivatives and their pricing models.
- Exceptional quantitative skills with a robust knowledge of statistics and financial time series analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; programming experience with VBA, Power Query, and business intelligence tools like Power BI (DAX) is preferred.
- A sophisticated investment mindset with a commitment to uphold the Foundation's esteemed reputation.
- A strong intellectual curiosity and capability to explore and assess complex investment opportunities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a seasoned investment committee.
- Ability to learn and utilize various software applications employed by the Investment Department.
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to operate independently when necessary.
- Demonstrated professionalism in all technical and non-technical aspects of the role.
- A commitment to excellence and dedication to seeing all assignments through to completion.
The role is hybrid in nature, providing flexibility in work arrangements.
