Surgical Support Lead

The Surgical Support Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Operating Room. This individual works closely with the Clinical Staff Managers to create a schedule for the Surgical Support Technicians, ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed efficiently. The Lead is responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies and monitoring ordering from internal sources. Additionally, they supervise the Surgical Support Technicians during OR turnover and decontamination of all OR equipment, machines, and monitors. The Surgical Support Lead reports to the Clinical Staff Managers and is available to assist emergently in any clinical situation to support the OR team.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the mission of the department to improve patient care experiences
Participate in supporting the organization's vision, mission, and values and adhere to Standards of Behavior
Maintain organization and assembly of all OR tables, including ORTHO fracture tables
Stock and monitor cleaning supplies
Collaborate with Environmental Services for terminal cleaning
Maintain knowledge of Infection Control Policy, JCAHO recommendations, and all Federal guidelines
Ensure Equipment Storage rooms are clean and organized
Ensure cleaning of surgical equipment before and after use
Other duties as assigned
Ensure OR hallways are organized and free of clutter to allow safe patient transports throughout the department
Communicate with inventory team to ensure cleaning supplies are ordered to perform duties
Participate in continuous quality improvement teams and activities
Ensure scrub sinks are stocked with surgical scrub necessities
Work closely with leadership team to support daily operational flow of the Operating Room
Collaborate with Clinical Staff Managers to schedule and assign Surgical Support Technicians to meet the needs of the department
Oversee the daily operational flow of the Surgical Support Technicians' duties
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Three or more years of job-related experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
