Job Overview


We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our esteemed pediatric medical center, recognized for its expertise in burn treatment, orthopaedics, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties.

This position is PRN, non-exempt, and eligible for benefits. The compensation for this role is $37.00 per hour, with pay determined by experience and departmental equity.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will assist surgeons during surgical and invasive procedures, ensuring that the surgical suite is properly prepared.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in establishing and maintaining a sterile environment, providing necessary equipment and supplies, and conducting counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments to ensure patient safety.

Equipment Management:

  • Independently organizes cases using preference sheets and special equipment lists, making necessary updates and reviews prior to the start of procedures.

Verification of Equipment:

  • Responsible for determining and documenting the efficacy of surgical equipment, ensuring accurate records of operations, sterilization, and equipment usage.

Knowledge of Equipment:

  • Familiar with the proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all operating room equipment, attending in-service training on new devices.


Possess a comprehensive understanding of sterile techniques, anatomy, and surgical procedures, particularly those specific to our facility. Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, especially those related to the operating room, is essential.

Familiarity with decontamination, sterilization processes, and the operation of flash and steam autoclaves and washer decontamination systems is required.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings to clients, patients, and colleagues.

Demonstrated ability to multitask while maintaining a safe environment for patients and coworkers.



Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions and address problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Current Surgical Technologist certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) recognized by the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in an orthopedic surgical setting is preferred.
