Job OverviewAs a Production Operator at Sonoco Products Company, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Rigid Paper Container division. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will work in a fast-paced production environment and be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support production operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate equipment such as caulk line seamers, flangers, assemblers, bowl feeders, elevators, case packers/erectors/sealers, and box stackers.
  • Perform required preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned.
  • Responsible for correcting and/or reporting all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Complete all required inspection checks and properly complete forms at specified frequencies.
  • Record box/pallet production and accurately complete production reports at the end of the shift.
  • Interpret and follow the daily production schedule to enable accurate and efficient production and execution of changeovers.
  • Ensure the packing area is clean and set-up with the proper materials for the next scheduled operating shift.
  • Properly handle, sort, and/or segregate and contain defective product.
  • Perform rework of defective cans as assigned.
  • Train co-workers and new hires as needed or directed.
