Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Roadway and Structural Materials Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design and construction of roadway and structural materials projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with Resident Engineers, construction contractors, suppliers, and vendors to resolve technical materials issues on transportation projects throughout California.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure quality control plans are fully complied with during the project duration.
  • Develop and maintain a strong quality control/assurance program for roadway and structural materials.
  • Ensure consistency with client and industry standards for all project structural critical components while minimizing the impact on project schedule and cost.
  • Review and check compliance with quality control plans throughout the project duration.
  • Conduct job site, fabrication, and manufacturing shop visits as needed to ensure adequate quality assurance measures are employed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in construction or design experience in transportation or commercial projects.
  • Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers required.
  • Proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and project work-related issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction of facilities or structures.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Travel in and out-of-state, up to 25% depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
  • Experience with State DOTs and Large Design/Build Construction Companies.
  • MSCE/SE.
  • Certified Welding Inspector certification and/or Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Level II certification.

Compensation

The expected salary for this position is $107,000-$158,950. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
