ABOUT HIGH TECH HIGH:

High Tech High was founded in September 2000 by a group of San Diego civic leaders and educators. Starting as a small project-based charter school with around 450 students, it has now expanded into a network of fourteen charter schools spread across four campuses, serving approximately 6,200 students from kindergarten to 12th grade.

In addition to the schools, High Tech High offers adult learning programs such as a Teacher Credentialing Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, providing professional development opportunities for educators at a national and international level.

JOB FUNCTION/ DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibilities of this position involve ensuring the cleanliness and organization of shared spaces within educational facilities to create a welcoming atmosphere for K-12 students. The Facilities Maintenance Associate will also assist maintenance personnel and custodial staff with various duties, including landscaping responsibilities tailored to each campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collecting miscellaneous outdoor waste and debris into designated receptacles
  • Disposing of trash and recyclables from external bins as necessary
  • Transporting waste to specified disposal areas
  • Utilizing power washing tools for pathways and dining areas
  • Clearing debris from outdoor spaces using blowers
  • Managing graffiti removal and urgent clean-up tasks
  • Assisting with unloading supplies from delivery vehicles
  • Operating floor cleaning and steam cleaning equipment
  • Rearranging furniture and staging setups for events
  • Performing landscaping activities with lawn mowers, edgers, and trimmers
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Effectively operating machinery, hand trucks, and dollies
  • Handling intricate maintenance tasks proficiently
  • Adhering to schedules, maintaining punctuality, and following instructions accurately
  • Building and nurturing positive working relationships
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of relevant experience
CLEARANCES:

Required clearances include TB Clearance and Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
