Job Summary

Barnard College seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychotherapist/Eating Disorder Treatment Specialist to provide direct clinical services to eligible students, including clinical assessment, short-term individual and group psychotherapy, and crisis intervention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to eligible students, including short-term individual and group psychotherapy, emergency/crisis response, consultation, and referral.
  • Conduct appropriate triage and care for both scheduled and walk-in students.
  • Provide crisis services to scheduled or walk-in students as necessary.
  • Rotate after-hours on-call responsibilities with other Furman staff.
  • Provide supervision to psychology or social work trainees.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as needed; identify necessary data in specialty areas in collaboration with Clinical Director and Health and Wellness leadership.
  • Maintain timely completion of clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and local regulations and policies.
Coordinator, Eating Disorder Treatment Team
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with suspected or confirmed eating disorders and evaluate for any comorbid diagnoses.
  • In conjunction with other members of the Eating Disorders Treatment Team, design, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic strategies (individual and group) and referrals as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary Eating Disorders Treatment Team (physician, nutritionist, therapist) in the assessment, treatment planning, monitoring, and referrals for students with eating disorders.
  • Work with the leadership of Health & Wellness to develop and implement campus outreach and support programs for students with eating concerns.
  • Provide ongoing education/training in eating disorder diagnosis and treatment for Health and Wellness clinical staff.
  • Participate in campus and larger community outreach by providing lectures/workshops on eating disorders.
  • Work with leadership of the Eating Disorders Treatment Team to educate the campus using both social media and web publications on eating disorders.
Requirements
  • PhD in counseling, clinical psychology, or LCSW
  • Licensure or license eligible in NY State
  • Specialized training or certification in eating disorders treatment preferred or the interest in obtaining certification
  • Minimum of three years experience conducting individual and group therapy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassionate, trauma-informed and patient-centered approach to care
  • High ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience and expertise in treating a full range of eating disorder presentations, including those needing hospitalization or other higher levels of care
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, particularly as they inform healthcare practices
  • Ability to assess, evaluate and refer students to appropriate resources and referrals
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a counseling service
  • Ability to work after hours / on weekends during on-call rotation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
