The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) at North Carolina A&T State University is responsible for developing and implementing effective programs that meet the needs of the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family and consumer sciences, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement programs that promote family and consumer sciences education and outreach
- Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to identify program needs and priorities
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluations to ensure program effectiveness
- Provide education and training to youth and adults on topics such as financial literacy, career readiness, and business development
- Work with diverse populations and build relationships with community leaders and organizations
- Manage program resources and budget
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in family and consumer sciences
- Bachelor's degree in family and consumer sciences, child or human development, nutrition, or a related field
- 3 years of work experience in Extension or working/teaching in diverse communities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office
- Valid driver's license and personal transportation
- Master's degree in family and consumer sciences or a related field
- Experience planning programs and working in diverse communities
- Experience working effectively as a team member
- Ability to manage time and resources
- Experience and knowledge in mass media, marketing, and presentations
The Extension Agent will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and priorities. The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
