Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Night Shift Dock Supervisor to join our team at Old Dominion Freight Line. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of freight, as well as supervising a team of dock employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis
  • Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift
  • Teach employees safe lifting techniques and ensure compliance with company and government regulations
  • Manage and assign dock employees to ensure proper utilization of equipment and resources
  • Manage all dock work schedules and time off requests
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure alignment in meeting business objectives
  • Provide analysis and suggestions for the improvement of operations within the shift, department, and facility
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ensure that 100% of trailers are loaded correctly to ensure safe transport of freight
Requirements
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • 2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industry
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems
  • Knowledge of general DOT regulations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
