Overview: The role of a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate involves supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. This position is vital in fostering connections between clients and essential treatment services.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating discussions with individuals considering treatment options.
- Encouraging clients to engage in treatment and healthcare services.
- Providing ongoing support for individuals after discharge from treatment.
- Promoting awareness of available social and community support services.
- Demonstrating effective coping strategies.
- Assisting clients in navigating the benefits application process.
- Accompanying clients to legal and medical appointments.
- Offering non-clinical crisis intervention, particularly following hospitalization or incarceration.
- Collaborating with participants to identify their strengths and resources.
- Connecting participants with formal recovery support systems.
- Educating clients about diverse recovery methodologies.
- Providing training for independent public transportation use.
- Offering guidance on medication-assisted treatment options.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or CRPA-P is necessary.
- CASAC certification will also be considered.
- A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient or mental health/substance abuse environment.
- Familiarity with various recovery systems and approaches is essential.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to establish rapport with clients.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage.
