Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assistant to join our team at the University of the Pacific. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of our dental teaching clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students and faculty in all clinical aspects of patient care and treatment
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and Navigation Center personnel
  • Provide information regarding policies and procedures as they relate to scheduling, dental treatment, and available resources
  • Work with Clinic Director and Navigation Center personnel to order supplies and maintain dental/hospital inventory and equipment
  • Perform chairside assistant duties for faculty and students, including four-handed dentistry
Requirements
  • Minimum of one year increasing responsibility in a dental office or dental school
  • Minimum of one year experience managing front office administrative duties
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current California Radiation Safety Certification
  • California Board-approved 2-hour course in the California Dental Practice Act
  • California Board-approved 8-hour course in infection control
  • ASHI, AHA, or ARC-approved course in BLS or any other course approved by the board as equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Medi-Cal billing
  • Experience using an electronic health record
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, patients, and other healthcare providers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professional composure and demeanor
Work Environment

The position is full-time, five days per week, eight hours per day. The location will be at the Redwood City Navigation Center and occasionally at the neighboring Maple Street Correctional Center (MSCC). Travel to the dental school may be required for calibration, cross-training, and other special events.
