Financial Reporting Analyst/Tax Specialist

As a Financial Reporting Analyst/Tax, you will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting the University's tax positions, with a focus on compliance and reporting matters related to sales tax and other indirect taxes.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee all sales tax and other indirect tax compliance and reporting responsibilities for the University.
- Prepare and review sales and use tax returns, including filings prepared within and outside the tax department.
- Resolve tax notices, questionnaires, and inquiries received from tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
- Manage tax audits, examinations, and reviews performed by tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
- Administer sales tax exemption certificate workstreams for the University.
- Respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders regarding tax matters.
- Complete tax research and prepare databases, analytics, metrics, visualizations, and dashboards for tax-related topics.
- Lead communications and outreach to the University community regarding tax policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain content on the Controller's Office and other University websites related to tax matters.
- Professional experience in tax compliance and reporting.
- Experience working in a large organization.
- Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Suite.
- Experience with data and analytics tools.
- Enterprise-wide financial system experience.
- Experience with tax compliance software.
- Tax research experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Master's degree in accounting or tax.
- Certified Public Accountant certification.
- Other accounting certifications.
- Five to seven years' work experience.
- Professional experience in assigned tax types.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience working in higher education or non-profit settings.
- Expert Excel skills.
- Recent experience with Tableau and Power BI.
- Oracle and Workday experience.
- Familiarity with K1X, Thompson Reuters, Wolters Kluwer, Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Paychex, and ADP products.
- Familiarity with RIA Checkpoint, Bloomberg BNA, and CCH AnswerConnect.
