On behalf of Dr. Laurence Sands, Chair of the DeWitt Daughtry Family Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery, CareerPhysician, LLC is conducting a comprehensive search for a visionary leader to take on the role of Director, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and Co-Director, Holtz Children's Heart Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- The selected Director will collaborate with the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and leadership at Holtz Children's to conceptualize and develop a world-renowned Heart Center aimed at serving the pediatric population of South Florida, as well as children from Central and South America, the Caribbean, and beyond. The goal is to achieve a U.S. News Best Children's Hospital ranking for Cardiology and Heart Surgery within three years.
- The Department of Surgery and Holtz Children's Hospital are in search of a highly skilled surgeon who possesses the entrepreneurial spirit and vision necessary to help establish a prominent pediatric cardiovascular surgery program. The new leader will be tasked with forming a new Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery within the Department of Surgery.
- The Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Surgery and will oversee the overall operations of the Division. Additionally, the Director will serve as the Surgical Director for Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgery.
- Building a robust research and educational mission for the Division is a significant priority. The Department will support various areas of interest, providing unique opportunities to engage with the Batchelor Children's Research Institute and collaborate with the Mailman Center for Child Development, a leading academic center for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and chronic illnesses.
- There is also a newly structured maternal-fetal medicine program and an expanding fetal cardiology initiative.
